WhatsApp has introduced a new “Search by Date” feature, allowing users to instantly jump to messages from any specific day with a single tap
WhatsApp has announced the global rollout of its “Search by Date” feature, making it easier than ever for users to find old messages inside long chats. The update is now available on both Android and iOS, along with WhatsApp Web, bringing a major improvement to message navigation.
With this new option, users will see a calendar icon inside the chat search bar. Tapping it allows them to pick any date, instantly jumping to messages sent on that particular day. According to WhatsApp, the feature is designed for users who scroll through years of conversations—especially in family, office, and business chats.
Meta confirmed that this update improves search speed through optimized indexing and reduces load time when opening older chat history. The feature works for individual chats, group chats, media files, and links, making it useful for finding documents, transaction messages, or images from a specific date.
This update is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing focus on improving productivity tools. The company is also testing features like AI-powered chat summaries, multi-account switching, and message editing improvements expected later this year.
The new Search by Date feature is already appearing for many users, and a full rollout will be completed in the coming days through an app update
